Welcome!

Located in Jewell Hollow at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Pass Run Mountain Cottage sits on a knoll overlooking the gently babbling Pass Run mountain stream.  As you sit on the deck, you may see deer, bear and turkeys while you enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature.

The cabin is furnished with antiques and offers a full bath (with tub and shower), phone and electric heat.  The living room has a stone (gas) fireplace, large picture window and television with DirecTV.  A fully equipped kitchen features a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, pots, pans, dishes and table linens.

The cabin sleeps up to three people.  One bedroom offers a full antique iron bed, and a second bedroom offers a twin bed.  Linens are furnished.

The History Behind Pass Run Mountain Cottage

We purchased this cottage from two ladies who loved the land and loved nature.  Tommie Lou and Bea built the cottage in 1976.  They dug the foundation, the sewer lines and the water lines all by hand because they didn’t want the land or woods distributed by the use of machines/equipment.

After we purchased the cottage, we would keep the ladies updated about what changes we were making. One day I told Bea that my husband Melvin was replacing the light pole and she said, “Well, it stood for thirty years – we dug that hole with a coffee can!”

These ladies enjoyed the cottage for many years.  We hope that our guests will enjoy the warmth, detail and personal touches they lovingly put into building it.
